CRO Lead

Most agencies say they do conversion optimization. This one actually ships. Landing pages go from brief to live in 48 hours, not a month. Calls on what to test get made with real judgement, not just data, so nobody's sitting around for two weeks waiting on a button colour test to hit significance. If that pace sounds like your kind of work, keep reading.

This agency built its name on creative strategy and media buying for DTC ecommerce brands, and it's good enough at both that clients pay a premium for it. Now CRO is becoming its own department, and they're bringing in someone senior to build and run it.

WHO THEY ARE

A lean, 15-person performance marketing agency working with premium DTC ecommerce brands, several of which are recognisable names in their categories. They service accounts across the full performance stack: creative strategy, media buying, and now conversion rate optimisation. The founders have deliberately kept the team boutique rather than scaling headcount for its own sake, because the quality of the work is the whole point.

  • Execution-first culture: big swings shipped fast, not endless incremental tests

  • Deliberately boutique, not chasing volume

  • Direct access to founders, no layers of management

  • High standards, high trust: little to no hand-holding once you've proven yourself

  • Works with well-known brands across oral care, skincare, and consumer wellness

This is a full-time, remote contractor role.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

  • You build the department, not just the tests. This is the first dedicated CRO hire. You'll shape the strategy, the methodology, and the hypothesis backlog from scratch, not inherit someone else's system.

  • Unlimited PTO. Take the time you need to do the work well.

  • Performance bonuses. The agency runs on incentives and every hire is on one.

  • Real growth path. As the department proves itself and more clients come on, there's a clear path to building out a team under you.

  • Direct line to the founders. You'll work closely with the founder driving strategy day to day, with a fast route to getting in front of clients once you've earned the trust.

  • Brands people know. Work across multiple ecommerce categories, including a major name in the gaming and energy space.

WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO

  • Own CRO strategy and execution across several DTC ecommerce accounts at once.

  • Build and run the hypothesis backlog and testing methodology from the ground up.

  • Ship continuous tests across landing pages, PDPs, homepages, and checkout: carousels, buy box changes, new sections, full page builds.

  • Partner with the media buyer and creative strategist on each account to align messaging and decide what gets built next.

  • Brief the in-house Replo developer and design resource to bring your ideas to life.

  • Audit new client PDPs and landing pages during onboarding and set the initial testing roadmap.

  • Read performance data and make the call on what to test next, backed by both numbers and judgement.

  • Earn a seat on client calls as you prove you can represent the work and the agency well.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have real CRO experience and don't need someone walking you through the basics.

  • You're comfortable making fast, judgement-backed calls rather than waiting weeks for a single test to reach textbook statistical significance.

  • You're proactive by default: you spot what needs testing next without being told.

  • You're a strong researcher who can look at a page and know what's holding it back.

  • You communicate well in English and are confident enough to eventually get on client calls.

  • You want ownership, not a checklist: you think like someone building a department, not executing a queue of tickets.

  • You're based in a time zone within two to four hours of Pacific time.

Bonus if you've:

  • Worked at an agency juggling multiple brands at once rather than a single in-house site.

  • Got hands-on skills in copywriting, design, or data analysis on top of CRO strategy.

  • Used AI tools to speed up research, copy, or testing workflows.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

30 days: You've audited every active account's current CRO setup, met the media buying and creative teams on each, and have your first testing roadmap live for at least one client.

60 days: You're running tests independently across most accounts, the hypothesis backlog is a living system rather than a one-off document, and you've shipped work the founders didn't have to double-check.

90 days: You're trusted enough to be on client calls talking through test results and next steps, and the agency is looking at bringing on support under you as the department grows.
