Email Marketing & Lifecycle Strategist

Most brands spend a fortune convincing someone to buy once. The real opportunity is giving them a reason to come back.

Le Jardin Switzerland is a fast-growing luxury haircare brand generating over $30 million in annual revenue, currently on pace for $50 million, with a lean team of just 12 people across the US and Europe. They've built a brand that thousands of customers trust with their haircare routines. Now they're looking for someone who wants to help make those relationships even stronger. As the Email Marketing & Lifecycle Strategist, you'll help shape what happens after someone discovers Le Jardin, from their first interaction with our brand to their first purchase, product education, subscription renewals, and beyond.

You'll work directly with the Executive Director of Operations, alongside our lead copywriter, designer, and technical team, to understand customer behavior, improve the experience, and develop smarter ways to drive retention and repeat purchases.

You'll help answer questions that actually matter:

  • What makes a first-time customer come back for a second purchase?

  • How do we turn new subscribers into loyal, long-term customers?

  • Why do customers cancel, and what could we do differently to keep them?

  • How can we make our emails more helpful, relevant, and effective?

  • What should we test next to improve retention and lifetime value?

Your ideas won't sit in a presentation waiting for approval. You'll have the opportunity to test them, measure their impact, and see how they influence a multimillion-dollar business.

You don't need to have managed an entire lifecycle program before. We're looking for someone who's naturally curious about customer behavior, analytical in their thinking, creative with their ideas, and excited to take on increasingly meaningful responsibilities.

If you've ever looked at a brand's emails and thought, "I know how they could make this better," we'd love to meet you.

WHO THEY ARE

Le Jardin Switzerland is a luxury direct-to-consumer haircare brand creating premium, Swiss-made products specifically developed for fine hair.

Their formulas combine 95% natural-origin ingredients with advanced Swiss formulation science, bringing together botanical heritage, product innovation, and a commitment to exceptional quality.

In just a few years, they've grown into a $30M+ business serving the US market, with much bigger ambitions ahead. But what makes Le Jardin different isn't just how quickly they've grown. It's how they're building the company. We believe a small team of exceptional people, given meaningful ownership and the freedom to execute, can accomplish extraordinary things.

That's reflected in how they work:

  • Small team, big responsibility: Everyone plays an important role, and your contribution genuinely matters.

  • Direct access to leadership: Work closely with the people making decisions, without unnecessary layers of management.

  • Freedom to improve things: We welcome fresh ideas, thoughtful experimentation, and people who question how things have always been done.

  • A high-performance culture: We value initiative, accountability, clear communication, and meaningful results.

  • Opportunity to grow: As the business expands, we want the people who help build it to grow alongside it.

This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity for US-based candidates working US business hours. The role will start as a 1099 contractor engagement, including a health and dental benefits stipend, with a planned transition to W-2 employment.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

Real influence on customer experience and revenue:

Your work will help determine how they communicate with customers, improve subscription retention, and grow revenue from our existing customer base. You'll see the commercial impact of your ideas firsthand.

Accelerated career development

Gain hands-on experience across email marketing, CRM, customer psychology, subscription retention, experimentation, and ecommerce analytics. You'll develop a broader understanding of lifecycle marketing than you would in a narrowly defined email execution role.

Direct mentorship from experienced teammates

Work closely with the Executive Director of Operations, lead copywriter, and designer, with guidance and feedback as you learn the business and take on more ownership.

Room to experiment and bring your own ideas

We don't want someone who simply schedules emails forever. We want someone who asks why customers behave the way they do, develops hypotheses, runs thoughtful tests, and finds better ways to do things.

Performance-based rewards

Strong contributions are recognized and rewarded, with opportunities for performance bonuses tied to your results.

Remote flexibility and benefits

Work remotely from anywhere in the US, with unlimited PTO, a health and dental stipend, and opportunities for company trips and team events.

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON

1. Email Marketing & Campaign Strategy

Help them create email campaigns that customers actually want to open, read, and engage with.

  • Help plan and manage the email marketing calendar, including promotions, product education, launches, and seasonal campaigns.

  • Develop campaign concepts, messaging angles, and customer segmentation strategies.

  • Collaborate with the lead copywriter and designer to turn ideas into compelling, high-performing emails.

  • Coordinate campaign briefs, builds, QA, scheduling, and launches in Klaviyo.

  • Help tailor messaging and offers to different customer groups based on their behavior, preferences, and purchase history.

  • Review campaign performance to understand what's resonating with customers and where we can improve.

2. Lifecycle Marketing & Customer Journeys

Think beyond individual campaigns and help us create a more thoughtful customer experience from beginning to end.

  • Help manage and improve Klaviyo flows, including welcome sequences, abandoned checkouts, post-purchase education, replenishment, and winback.

  • Identify opportunities to make the communication more relevant, helpful, and personalized.

  • Develop ideas that help customers understand our products, build consistent routines, and know what to expect from their purchases.

  • Review how campaigns and automated flows work together to create a consistent customer experience.

  • Improve segmentation, messaging, timing, and customer journeys based on behavioral and purchase data.

  • Identify gaps in our existing lifecycle program and recommend new flows or improvements.

3. Subscription Retention & Customer Loyalty

Help them build a subscription experience that gives customers genuine reasons to stay.

Subscription is a major part of our business, and improving the customer experience across renewals, cancellations, and reactivations is one of the biggest opportunities.

  • Help improve the subscriber journey, from initial signup through upcoming orders, renewals, cancellations, and reactivation.

  • Analyze why customers cancel, whether it's excess product, pricing concerns, inconsistent usage, or uncertainty about results.

  • Develop and test retention strategies, including renewal reminders, personalized offers, delivery-frequency adjustments, skips, and cancellation alternatives.

  • Work with the subscription platform to improve customer communication and retention experiences.

  • Collaborate with the customer experience team to understand recurring questions, frustrations, and cancellation reasons.

  • Help customers recognize the value of staying subscribed through better education, relevant benefits, and thoughtful communication.

  • Track how changes influence renewal rates, cancellation rates, repeat purchases, and customer lifetime value.

4. Analytics, Testing & Experimentation

Develop a deeper understanding of why customers behave the way they do, and use that knowledge to make the lifecycle marketing more effective.

  • Monitor campaign and flow performance, including engagement, conversion, revenue, and customer behavior.

  • Analyze retention metrics, repeat purchase rates, subscription renewals, cancellations, and reactivation.

  • Help maintain a structured testing calendar with clear hypotheses, success measures, and learnings.

  • Run A/B tests across subject lines, messaging, offers, timing, segmentation, and customer journeys.

  • Compare test results, identify meaningful patterns, and recommend what we should try next.

  • Research how successful beauty, haircare, skincare, and subscription brands approach lifecycle marketing.

  • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, practical way that helps the team make decisions.

5. AI, Automation & Process Improvement

Help them build smarter systems as the business grows.

  • Explore AI tools and automation opportunities that make campaign planning, reporting, and execution more efficient.

  • Identify repetitive tasks or inefficient workflows that could be simplified.

  • Help improve how they organize campaign briefs, track tests, and document learnings.

  • Suggest tools and processes that improve the quality, speed, and consistency of our work.

You won't be expected to independently own all of this on day one. You'll start by learning our existing systems, collaborating with the team, and taking responsibility for recurring projects. As you demonstrate your abilities, you'll have the opportunity to lead more of the strategy and experimentation yourself.

WHO YOU ARE

We're more interested in how you think, what you've learned, and your potential than how many years you've spent in a particular role. You might be a recent graduate with relevant internship or project experience, or someone who's spent their first few years supporting an email marketing, CRM, lifecycle, or retention team. What matters most is that you're curious about customer behavior, comfortable working with data, and genuinely excited to learn how successful ecommerce brands build long-term customer relationships.

You'd be a great fit if:

  • You're naturally curious about why customers buy, what makes them come back, and why they sometimes leave.

  • You have a strong interest in email marketing, customer retention, and the psychology behind effective messaging.

  • You're analytical and enjoy digging into performance data to understand what's working and what isn't.

  • You're creative and regularly find yourself thinking of ways brands could improve their marketing or customer experience.

  • You understand the fundamentals of email marketing, including messaging, segmentation, timing, offers, and customer journeys.

  • You're comfortable learning and using platforms such as Klaviyo, Shopify, and subscription management tools.

  • You have an appreciation for good copywriting and understand how messaging influences customer behavior.

  • You're organized, detail-oriented, and dependable when it comes to executing campaigns and managing deadlines.

  • You're proactive, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking ownership without needing constant direction.

  • You're tech-savvy, interested in AI and automation, and quick to learn new tools.

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. You don't need to have built an entire lifecycle program or independently managed a retention strategy. We're interested in what you've contributed, how you approach problems, and the ideas you're excited to explore.
